Two Shugden Monks from Shar Gaden Monastery Attacked

Western Shugden Society – Two young monks have been admitted to hospital, to be treated for injuries sustained during an unprovoked attack.

The attack took place around 11.30pm on Saturday 30th May 2009, outside Serkong Khangtsen, in the Tibetan colony near Mundgod, Karnataka State, India.

The victims, Lobsang Damchoe and Lobsang Choekyi Gyaltsen, are both tulkus (reincarnate lamas) who recently enrolled at Shar Gaden Monastery. They are known in the community as followers of the protector Dorje Shugden.

The six attackers, supporters of HH Dalai Lama’s policy against the practice of Dorje Shugden, have admitted to planning and carrying out the attack. Thus far, their monastery, Gaden Jangtse, has made no comment and has given no punishment.

The attackers are also supported by the local Tibetan Representative’s office and its chairman, which themselves have wide support in the local community.

The Indian police have been informed of the attack and are currently investigating, but as yet have made no arrests.

Dalai Lama Taken to Court for Religious Discrimination

As stated in my last post, Al Jazeera has featured ‘The Dalai Lama: The Devil Within’ as one of their top stories of 2008. Below is the section of the documentary focused on the Dalai Lama being taken to court on grounds of religious discrimination by Kundeling Rinpoche.

As the lawyer for the persecuted Shugden practitioners, Shree Sanjay Jain, explains:

“It is certainly a case of religious discrimination in the sense that if within your sect of religion you say that this particular Deity ought not to be worshipped, and those persons who are willing to worship him you are trying to excommunicate them from the main stream of Buddhism, then it is a discrimination of worst kind.”

Al Jazeera adds:

“No matter what the outcome of the court case, in a country where millions of idols are worshipped, attempting to ban the Deity is an uphill battle. One in which many Buddhist monks have lost their faith in the spirit of the Dalai Lama.”

Is the Dalai Lama a Buddhist?

why Dalai Lama why - The Dalai Lama is destroying all Buddhism in this world by granting false teachings. He has become the Hollywood monk and saavy politician, enjoying a jet-setting lifestyle, dining with the rich and famous, and then teaching whatever he thinks will please his audience.

Times Online printed an article about the Dalai Lama in France. In this article appears the following statements by the Dalai Lama:

“We should strive for inner peace in the concert of God…. We also have responsibility to take care of the planet. The trees and all beautiful things are the creation of God. Harmony is very very essential.”

Buddhists famously don’t believe in God the Creator. We say that everything was created by mind — this is an essential tenet of Buddhism.

At a talk in Seattle in April of this year he was asked “how can people enhance and develop their compassion”. A very simple question with a very clear Buddhist answer that he should have been able to give. Watch the video.

He said “when we are born we are all the same”. The Dalai Lama’s answer denies the basic teachings of karma. We are not “all the same” at the time of birth. We all bring the karmic potentials from our previous lives into our next life.

He said that more study needed to be done to answer the question. That statement was to appease the scientists that he likes to talk and discuss with. Buddha taught complete and perfect teachings on how to develop and increase our compassion until we have the universal compassion of a Buddha. Why did the Dalai Lama not give a Buddhist answer?

Thousands of Buddhist Rally…

Tenzin Peljor keeps trying to portray the demonstrations by the Western Shugden Society as non-Buddhist and unusual activity for and by Buddhists.

Burmese monks protested …

now thousands of Buddhists in South Korea are protesting against religious discrimination.

“Police estimated that 60,000 people, including 7,000 monks, gathered in front of the capital Seoul’s City Hall.”

The article regarding the South Korean’s rally can be found here.

There is nothing un-Buddhist about demonstrating. Buddha taught that we should do whatever is practical to help correct a situation. Demonstration is a practical method to get your voice heard.

The Dalai Lama is harming Dorje Shugden practitioners and destroying Buddhadharma in the process. The Dalai Lama, himself, has brought these demonstrations to his doorstep. The Dalai Lama is engaging in religious discrimination.

We will remain calm in our hearts and protest with one compassionate voice for religious freedom, for religious tolerance, and for the remaining of pure Buddhadharma in this world.

Dalai Lama – please remove the ban against Dorje Shugden practice!

Conversation with a Tibetan Western Shugden Society Supporter

Below is a quote from a new article on the Wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden Blog:

Now that they are bringing in the signature campaign and destroying our lineage even here in America, I have nowhere else to run to. When you know that they are destroying your lineage and killing your Gurus, you have to make a stand. I have no choice. I don’t care if I myself die. Of course, I am worried about my wife, children and mother. But I have taken out life insurance so then I don’t need to worry. Many of these people here don’t have a wife or children because they used to be monks until they were expelled from their monastery and home.

TIME Magazine Article About the Dorje Shugden Controversy

Below are a couple of quotes from the Article Published Yesterday in Time Magazine as one of their top 5 stories:

The problem is that in Tibet most people shun whom they think the Dalai Lama wants them to shun. The protesters display photos of signs they say have gone up recently in Tibet urging shopkeepers not to do business with tainted monks. They could be written by anybody, but most people assume they know the ultimate author of the signs

Norden, the Shugden spokesperson, observes correctly that even if the Dalai Lama is not behind the current Shugden woes, “if he wanted it to stop, all he’d have to do would be to snap his fingers.” Yet no-one expects that.
