The Ganden Tripa has joined Shar Gaden Monastery

The Ganden Tripa or Gaden Tripa is regarded as the spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. This news about the Ganden Tripa was posted today by a TK on the dorjeshugden.com forum. I’ve edited this post for length and clarity.

“The term of office for the current Ganden Tripa has finished. He has successfully finished his term. He now has the title of His Holiness Ganden Trisur Rinpoche Lungri Namgyal. He primarily resides in France although he has a ladrang in Ganden Shartse, Nepal and Yangthing, Tibet.

Ganden Trisur Rinpoche

Ganden Trisur Rinpoche belongs to the Dokhang Khangtsen house of Ganden Shartse Monastery formerly. He studied and received his Geshe degree in Ganden Shartse and later he became the Ganden Tripa.

Ganden Trisur Rinpoche has never journeyed to Ganden Shartse Monastery to swear in or take the oath to forsake Dorje Shugden. In a stunning turn around, he has officially left Gaden Shartse Monastery and joined Shar Gaden Monastery. Ganden Trisur’s assistant was sent to speak with the current Gaden Shartse Abbot about him leaving Shartse Monastery.

Ganden Trisur’s throne in Shartse will remain although he has left the monastery completely. HH Ganden Trisur Rinpoche was a student of Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang.

This eventful move will embarrass the Tibetan Government in exile and also teach them a lesson. Not everyone is afraid of them and there are high ranking lamas who will stand up for what they believe in. With time, more and more monks will defect to Shar Gaden Monastery and remain loyal to their lineage, lamas, and practices.

In Sera, Gaden, Drepung, Tashilungpo, Gyuto and Gyurme Monasteries take a “fake oath”, as they put it, to temporarily quiet down the Tibetan Government in Exile and their unjust/undemocratic persecution of Dorje Shugden devotees.

They stand up in front of the congregation (fearing expulsion from the monastery) and read the words that ‘swear’ they abandon Dorje Shugden and will not be associated with Dorje Shugden devotees in any manner. The monks say they just read the words and do not feel anything from their heart. It is pure persecution. Many monks don’t dare to speak out against the Tibetan Government, even though they are opposed to the ban. Ganden Trisur’s recent move will give strength to many who have been persecuted up until now.”

Sincere thank you to HH Ganden Trisur Rinpoche. This is a wonderful statement that will give strength and courage to many to practice purely without fear.

    ADDITIONAL CONFIRMATION: Tuesday Jan 26,2010

Half hour ago, a phone call was made to HH Trisur Rinpoche’s personal assistant to confirm their entry into Shar Gaden.
Trisur Rinpoche’s personal assistant replied a firm YES.

His Holiness Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal who was the 101st Throne Holder of Tsongkapa HAS OFFICIALLY ENTERED SHAR GADEN MONASTERY and left Gaden Shartse Monastery! He openly practices Dorje Shugden now!

He gives us so much strength, hope and inspiration. We thank HH Trisur Rinpoche from the bottom of our hearts. With tears streaming down my face as I type this to everyone here.

HH Trisur Rinpoche’s assistant said that he went to meet Gaden Shartse’s current abbot and told the abbot that their province in Tibet, their lamas, their lineage, their monasteries in Tibet all practice Dorje Shugden and that they would not be able to give up the practice.

HH Trisur Rinpoche CANNOT GIVE UP THE PRACTICE OF DORJE SHUGDEN. HH TRISUR RINPOCHE COMPLETED HIS 7 YEAR TERM OF OFFICE AS GADEN TRIPA (HEAD OF GELUG) AND NOW THAT HE IS A TRISUR, he will resign from Gaden Shartse Monastery and join Shar Gaden Monastery.

HH Trisur Rinpoche had to wait this long until the term of office as Gaden Tripa completed to MAKE THIS MOVE BECAUSE IF HE HAD MADE THIS MOVE EARLIER, THE DALAI LAMA WOULD HAVE REMOVED HIM FROM OFFICE. And that would not be good for the Gelug on the whole. NOW THAT HE HAS FINISHED HIS TERM, HE CAN DO WHAT HE LIKES. NO ONE CAN TOUCH HIM, DISTURB HIM OR DISGRACE HIS POSITION. INCREDIBLE PLANNING. THIS WAS RELAYED BY HIS PERSONAL ASSISTANT!

HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche is residing in France currently but there are rumours he might visit Shar Gaden this year. Let’s hope HH Trisur Rinpoche makes a historical visit to Shar Gaden. That would make a further huge statement.

The Tibetan Govt has been silent. No comments so far whatsoever.

The abbot of Gaden Shartse had nothing to say unsurprisingly. The new abbot of Gaden is said to have no strength and will power. The new abbot is VERY FRIGHTENED of Dalai Lama and Tibetan Govt.

    Dear everyone,

We should write to HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche and offer our deepest respects and thanks for his courageous act.

Lamas of his calibre usually like to stay within Tibetan Policies because they are doing well. Sorry to say.

Gaden Trisur Rinpoche has no qualms about himself, but his concern is for the growth of Tsongkapa’s doctrine. Incredible practitioner. This shows that his learning is put into practice. How great during this time of kali-yuga and politics.

My faith and respect in HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche went up a thousand notches.

I fold my hands and thank HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche so much for showing us dharma practice is alive and well.

Please send a letter to Him.

Sermey Jetsun Khen Rinpoche Losang Tharchin on Pabonka Rinpoche

Khen Rinpoche, Geshe Lharampa, ex-Abbot Sera Monastery

KYABJE PABONGKA RINPOCHE DECHEN NYINGPO and his classmate, Gyelrong Sharpa Choje—known as Jangsem Choje Lobsang Nyima—went together very often to debate when they were at their monastery. Indeed, both of them became Geshes. Later Jangsem Choje Lobsang Nyima entered Gyu Me Tantric College and became a great scholar. He proceeded to become gi-go, an administrator, as I did, then Lama Umdze, then Abbot, and finally almost reached the position of Ganden Tripa.

Pabongka Rinpoche Kyabje Dechen Nyingpo’s life proceeded in another direction such that he was later to become a very famous teacher of Sutra and Tantra, especially of the Lam Rim (Stages of the Path to Enlightenment) tradition. Whenever he taught, many people came from miles and miles around to attend his teachings. Everybody said he was an unbelievable expert on all subjects.

Later, when Lobsang Nyima had learned that Kyabje Dechen Nyingpo was going to be in nearby Chusang Ritro, his curiousity piqued from having heard so much relating to Kyabje Pabongka’s fame coming from all quarters, he decided to visit him and so he brought along a pot of excellent yogurt as a gift for Rinpoche. During that visit they met for a long time discussing many points on numerous topics. Since Kyabje Pabongka had answered every one of his questions so thoroughly, Lobsang Nyima couldn’t argue with him at all on any of the points.

Upon his return, when others asked about the visit he remarked: “When we were on the debate ground at Sera Mey, Kyabje Dechen Nyingpo wasn’t an expert at debate by any means. At the time I didn’t think he had learned very much. But now I understand that his way of studying and mine went in different directions. For instance, when we debated, I for my part, would apply reasons and quotations to back up my arguments, all the time focusing on the other debater. But Kyabje Pabongka, for his part, when studying, asking questions, giving answers, reciting quotations, giving reasons, everything, would focus all of these on himself, applying them to his own mind. Therefore, by using such a method, there is no way to argue with him on any of the points since he has mastered them all.”

Another bipolar deluded man intent on keeping his rice bowl full as he chats with the Buddha.
What a guy,so straight and strong, keeping his hat on while he ignores the basic tenets of Buddhism.
He gathers his flock and pulls out the cream of the crop and make them feel foolish.
When it is he that breaks the vows as he condemns others.
Like wheat that must be thrashed and blown free of the shaft to make bread.
All the Young Tulku and Deovted Wake Up and though in a spell, the Warriors awake and shake the world with their beating the melodious drums to calm and strenghten as we all call out in protest that there are thoes who deny the dharma.
We are Victorious and take the day.
Dalia and his troupe hit road, never to be heard of again, they recede into oblivion.
We welcome the Morning Star in it’s brillance

Mary Poppins or Jack In The Box?
    Take your pick!
He’ll pop up just about anywhere to wend his way into halls that he does not belong.
Turn the crank and see what will happen. It’s only the anticipation that makes it all work. When Jack finally pops up and surprises you when for some reason you least expect it.
I think it wise to let the Chinese deal with this Clown.
They know his jiggles and wiggles mean nothing at all.
The only reason it appears to me that they prefer to bring these Clown back over to Beijing, is to keep from tainting Obama from his giggling ways. The ones that embarass us all as he proceed in the guise of a lama. One can never quite know what these fools will try next.Stupid and hard headed is all they know. Like the Yak, you have to put a ring in it’s nose to keep from getting off the trail and doing whatever it wants.
It looks to me like the Big Dragon looks down on this parade of dharma bashers, who will do anything for a little money.
He might go down like Mickey Mouse in an amusement park that closes after dark.
Back to the scene of his crime, it will remind that taking another’s life will get you nowhere.
Like a Tiger chasing it’s tail, eventually he turns into butter.

Yes there is terrible injustice, yes we need to keep alive our sense of outrage and compassion.
    The more powerful our compassion
can become for all involved, both the oppressed and the present oppressors, the better for us.

    That’s the real spiritual practice.

While acting with our best love and wisdom we’ve got to remember the nature of samsara, how it’s extremely tragic in every most painful way possible.
All sentient beings actually want to escape it. The only way to do that eventually comes down to seeing its lack of true existence.
    It’s like a bad dream!
But we can wake up and wake others up too.
